Hunter and hound

Tell the Environment Secretary to act now and ban hunting

During the 2022/23 fox hunting season, numerous reports on the heinous actions of the hunting community emerged, but the government refused to act.

A film of a hunt apparently digging out foxes from a den before forcing the terrified animals into the path of a pack of baying hounds. CCTV footage showing a fox being killed by hounds in someone’s garden. A drone video of dogs running out of control on a road, causing chaos and putting people in danger. These incidents are just the tip of the iceberg.

It shows, yet again, what the hunts will try and get away with when they think nobody is watching. Everywhere they go, they leave a trail of death and destruction. And now they’re at it again.

With a new fox hunting season underway, animals across the beautiful countryside of England and Wales are yet again under threat. Wildlife chased to exhaustion by baying packs of hounds before being ripped apart for this so-called ‘sport’.

It’s time for change. It’s time for hunting laws to be strengthened. It’s time for Defra to ban hunting on government land and for the Secretary of State to commit to strengthening the Hunting Act 2004.

Please join our call urging the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to finally end fox hunting once and for all.

Below is a guide email to send to Steve Barclay. It’s editable and we would encourage you to say things in your own words. Your representatives are interested in what the electorate – you – have to say.
