Speak out for the victims of hunting with hounds

Illegal fox hunting horrifies the public, but hunting with dogs affects other animals in our countryside too. Deer, otter, mink, and hare all fall victim to organised hunts despite hunting with hounds being against the law.

The government has launched a consultation on banning so-called ‘trail’ hunting, a practice invented by the hunts so they could carry on hunting.

This is very welcome but a ban must go further to encompass exemptions within the Hunting Act as well as a broader strengthening to ban reckless hunting. This is vital to prevent the creation of further smokescreens for illegal hunting.

Any new legislation must protect all animals hunted with dogs by banning trail hunting, removing exemptions, and introducing prison sentences as a proper deterrent to lawbreakers.

Join us in calling on the government to act quickly to protect all of the animals cruelly hunted with dogs – respond to the consultation today.
